World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning matchup where the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51 million spectators across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. MLB stated this represents the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
