The artist has handed over the complete sum of his £25,000 honor cash to the MVT, which functions to preserve the Britain's independent concert spaces.
The star was awarded the cheque on 16 October as his new release People Watching was declared the outstanding release of the past year.
The musician has opted to hand the money over to the trust, in appreciation of the essential function grassroots venues had in his beginning days.
"I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the gigs I played around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These spaces are legendary, but they are struggling."
Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have shut down – about 16% of the total UK scene.
Recently, well-known musicians like Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.
Fender also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
These funds helped spaces that were dealing with potential shutdown due to difficulties stemming from flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and neighbor objections.
Other venues obtained financial assistance in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted artists and fans.
"The idea that funds from concerts in big venues backs the local stages, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," Sam Fender has commented.
The musician is not the first artist to donate his honor winnings to good deeds.
When Pulp earned the award in the year 1996 for their release Different Class, frontman Cocker stated that the group would contribute their winnings to the non-profit War Child.
During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her bounty among a few good causes, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.
"I also contributed a grand to the center, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required updated gear," Ms Dynamite explained to outlets.
Two years ago, they contributed their funds to the local youth club that developed their band, in addition to other local music groups.
And the 1994 recipients M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was diagnosed the disease.
"Receiving the award was quite enough," said artist the singer. "The money was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."
Recently, the MVT shared it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by bringing them into local control.
The first in the city and the second in that location were purchased under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is funded by the arts council and music fans who buy "shares" in the properties.
